The last day of our Erasmus project have come . Each team had the task to summarizing what they have learned during the week and what they liked the most . All of the teams made interesting presentations and videos, reflecting the past week with a variety of activities and unforgettable moments. We finished the project with smiles and did not say goodbye, but see you soon!

17 January

                                                                  

On the very last day of our project Culture Meets Science we visited Omaya Resort where we were fascinated by the beauty of nature. We saw and learned how the famous Bulgarian yoghurt is made and we all got the opportunity to taste it. Following the knowledge we gained about yoghurt, we learned a lot about herbs in the area - their benefits and healing properties. We finished the day with something artistic - each team colored and assembled a birdhouse.

16 January

 We had the opportunity to visit a shelter for old donkeys in the village of Banichan. There we were able to take samples of blood and hair from a healthy old donkey, we also had a chance to name one. We called it Assoluto, which in Italian means “important”. After the walk around the shelter we were warmly welcomed by the “Banichanski babi” who told us a lot of interesting stories from their pretty village. After learning and seeing Banichan, we headed to the village of Koprivlen, where we visited an ostrich farm and again collected valuable materials for our chemical experiments. After long walks and gathering of samples, we conducted our experiments in the laboratory of our school. The reaction with blood and hydrogen peroxide impressed everyone. We conducted the experiments successfully. The school European ambassadors prepared a game thanks to which we gain more knowledge about the European Parliament.

15 January

Today we visited the factory of water. ,,Pirinspring'' is famous for producing water and distributing it to many cities and villages in whole Bulgaria. We learned a lot about the way water is produced and about the norms that have to be fulfilled for the water to be drunk.
Afterwards, we went to a nearby village of Ognyanovo to collect some water samples from the mineral springs. We came back to school and carried out different experiments with the samples.
At the end of the day we visited a local museum of the city in which we got acquainted with the history of Gotse Delczev and its inhabitants.

14 January

We visit school for the very first time and we are greatly impressed by the mixture of tradition, history and modern times. We are welcomed by the mayor of the city, principal, teachers and students. Then we go on a school tour and get to know its long history. 

Then, project activities start. We take part in 3 interdisciplinary lessons. The first of them is the lessons of Biology, Math and English. It deals with the problem of diminishing bird population and migration of our feathered friends. To cope with it, students come up with their own solution to these problems. One of them is building stable and good quality bird houses. This can be done thanks to calculations which enable students to plan, design and finally build bird houses. All instructions are given in English and the whole lesson is conducted in that language. 

The second lesson is the Biology, Chemistry and English lesson. Students do research on DNA structure of protein and chemical properties of natural and artificial hair/fur. 

The last lesson is the Biology, Chemistry and Physics lesson. It is about the process of fermentation, traditional Bulgarian dishes, pickles and chemical composition and technology of producing of traditional Bulgarian yoghurt. After lunch we get to know each other better and present our schools and countries. We also form international groups which will work on the project during the next few days. Also, an ornithologist presents some important facts about the bird population of the region.

13 January

13 JANUARY

On 13 January 2019 partners from Belgium, Italy and Poland come to Gotse Delczev and are accommodated in Hotel Nevrokop. Coordinator from Bulgaria is waiting for us. We still don’t know each other after long journeys we just want to unpack and rest.

PROJECT ,,CULTURE MEETS SCIENCE''

The project is cofounded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. Its theme is connected with exchanging innovative practices and creating interdisciplinary lessons based on project.

Students and teachers from Bulgaria, Belgium, Italy and Poland will work during lessons at school, workshops, and lessons outside collecting and analysing samples and doing experiments.

We will visit historic sites and cultural places, and try traditional cuisines of partner countries to enable the meeting of culture and science
